Today, the weather was very good to our Bronze Duke of Edinburgh group as they went on their first practice walk at Shaw's Bridge and Barnett's Demesne.
The students learnt and applied skills around bag packing, map reading and orienteering as well as developing their teamwork and communications skills. We were fortunate to have lovely weather and the group made the most of it covering more than 12km of hilly terrain. Memories of the day will be 'don't feed the seagull', Elliot - where is your map? and Mr Steward taking a tumble (well almost!)
The students behaved superbly and were a credit to the school! Roll on Day walk 2 on April 10th
