Homework Policy

We believe that homework:

  • Supports the teaching and learning taking place in the classroom

  • Develops co-operation and partnership between school and home

  • Encourages independence

Gives parents an opportunity to:

  • Be involved in their child’s education

  • Show that they value their child’s efforts

  • Praise and encourage their child

Students will have homework as follows:

LITERACY ACTIVITIES

This may include:

  • Book sharing with parents

  • Language based activities

  • Reading

  • ‘Finding Out’ tasks

  • Written activity

  • Spellings / High Frequency words

  • Core 5/Power Up

NUMERACY ACTIVITIES

This may include:

  • Sorting / matching

  • Counting activities

  • Number games

  • Written activities

  • Investigation / ‘Finding Out’ tasks

  • Mathletics

OTHER ACTIVITIES MAY INCLUDE:

  • Independence / Self-help skills

  • Gross / Fine motor skill activities e.g. hopping, skipping, jumping

  • Writing

Students will have homework 2-4 evenings per week.

*All written homework should be signed by a parent/carer.
