An Olympian Visits Park School!

Today, saw a very special visit to Park School from hockey player and former Olympian Dr Shirley McCay MBE. Shirley is Ireland’s most capped sports performer, with 316 caps, and has represented her country at World and Olympic finals.

Shirley lead an inspirational assembly for our KS3 students in the morning, before taking workshops focused on mentoring, with a small group of Post 16 students who are going to lead a sports and activity mentoring programme in the coming months.

The visit, part of @Lidls ‘Sport for Good’ programme, is aimed at raising activity levels and improving well-being amongst young people at Park School. As well as our Olympian visits, the school will also receive funding for sports equipment to boost the scheme.

Congratulations to the Post 16s who took part in the workshops – the students were positive, engaged, and full of bright ideas!

We are looking forward to seeing Shirley again very soon.
