We are pleased to be able to provide a further update to confirm that Unite the Union has taken the decision to suspend the current industrial action. This means that the strike action planned from 11 May to 1 June will now not go ahead. We very much welcome this development which will see an immediate end to the disruption to Education Authority (EA) services.
We recognise the challenges faced by many families during this recent strike action, particularly those caring for children and young people with very complex special educational needs. The suspension of this strike action means that we can now have collective discussions with all our Trade Union colleagues on local pay and grading issues unrelated to the 2021/22 national pay award and we will ensure that this is progressed as expediently as possible.
